2015 was set to be an extraordinary year for the Nintendo Wii U, as the likes of Splatoon was to be joined by Super Mario Maker, Yoshi's Wooly World, Xenoblade Chronicles X , Star Fox Zero, and of course, The Legend of Zelda Wii U. Sadly, the latter two were postponed to 2016 and haven't been heard from for some time.

There are rumors that Nintendo are exploring the option of releasing The Legend of Zelda for the NX as opposed to the Wii U, which would certainly help the new console get on its feet. But for now, both Star Fox and The Legend of Zelda are due to get new installments in what could be the last year for Nintendo's Wii U.

The Legend of Zelda Vs Star Fox For Wii U Game Of 2016

This console, despite being a major failure for Nintendo in terms of sales and marketing, has had some pretty remarkable games in the last few years. Its also claimed numerous awards at the annual Game Awards, such as Best Fighting Game for Super Smash Bros Wii U in 2014, and Best Shooter for Splatoon in 2015. Sure, the controller is cumbersome and the graphics aren't always perfect, but the Wii U has done remarkably well in terms of delivering worthwhile content for those that purchased it.

Nintendo seemingly aims to continue that legacy right up until the console's demise. We saw the same thing happen with the Wii, in fact, almost all of the best games for the Wii were released in its twilight years. Perhaps the same will be said for the Wii U when we get Star Fox Zero and The Legend of Zelda.

But which game are you more excited for? These two projects have an enormous amount of potential! We haven't had an original Star Fox game since Star Fox Command for the Nintendo DS in 2006. This series has also seen a total of 5 cancellations since its inception. Crazy. It doesn't look like that'll happen with Star Fox Zero (knock on wood), but its obviously an exciting event to see that Fox and the gang are returning.

Then of course, we have The Legend of Zelda Wii U, a game that still doesn't have an official title and a game that we still know very little about. I mean Nintendo released a 20 second trailer for this game last year, what was up with that? Do they enjoy teasing us with this stuff?!

In any case, this Zelda title appears to be one of the most beautiful in the franchise's history. Perhaps we'll see some new updates that'll shake the series to its chore, and maybe it will release for the NX after all. Who knows? Do you think Nintendo's new console will have a Zelda game as its launch title?

So, with these two masterful names in mind, which franchise are you looking forward to engaging with in 2016? Have you waited long enough for a new Star Fox game? Or is the lure of another adventure with Link too strong?
