Creed Movie Review
Its been a while since there has been a good Rocky film and unfortunately there has been a lot of negative attitudes towards some of these films. I tell you this though, Creed captures the essence of the original Rocky and like the original Rocky film its not entirely a fight film but also a character driven film. I continue by saying that this film in a way is a Rocky sequel (Rocky 7) but this is also Creed 1. This film focuses as much on Michael B Jordan's character as Slyvester Stallone's Rocky Balboa.
The film stars Michael B Jordan as Adonis Johnson the illegitimate son of Apollo Creed former Rival and Friend of Rocky Balboa. As well as Slyvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa (obviously). The film follows Adonis as he tries to follow his own path instead of using his fathers name and fame. He does this by getting help and training from Rocky himself.
There were many high points within the film including the fight scenes themselves. The cinematography was great, the focus of certain characters and scenes with the camera made the movie interesting to watch. One of the best things about this film was the music. A lot of the Rocky films have had great soundtracks or simply great music. Creed is no exception, it too has great music and makes good scenes great.
Finally the performances done by both Michael B Jordan and Sylvester Stallone were great. Jordan is a relatively new actor but he keeps getting better and better with every film that he is in. He does an excellent job as a kid trying to find his own path in the world. Stallone is viewed and has typically been typecast as an action hero, but in this he does an excellent job as tutor/mentor like character but also as a character that has gone through many hardships but still keeps his ground. This movie is very good and as quoted from a friend of mine "I believe that this Rocky movie is a movie for a new generation. No longer only for older fans but for new younger ones as well."
I would give this movie a score of 8 out of 10, it was Jordan's performance that really sold me on this film.
