This year Ryan Reynold's star's in the goriest romantic comedy too date and its the movie that has it all but the Chinese authorities have denied it too be shown country wide due to the films intense graphic content.
According to local media within China this decision came because of the movies strong nudity, language and violence on screen. Despite the movie being one of the most anticipated movies of 2016 with marvel connections, it has received a lot of negative press as its lead has been described more as an Anti-Hero than Hero and is aimed at a more mature audience than most 'Superhero' films.
“You have moments when you’re shooting where you think: ‘This is, uh, a little excessive. This is a comic-book movie. Are we gonna get away with this?’” Reynolds said. “But so far, so good.”
The Chinese censors will often release heavily edited versions of films with potentially offensive content but according to Hollywood Reporter, sources suggest that this would have rendered Deadpool unwatchable to most.
Recently, Quentin Tarantino said that after Django Unchained was overly censored in China, he is happy for locals to watch his films illegally. We can only wait to see if Marvel will give the thumbs up to fans within China.
“I have a lot of Chinese fans who buy my movies on the street and watch them and I’m OK with it,” he said. “I’m not OK with it in other places, but if the government’s going to censor me then I want the people to see it in any way they can.” - Quentin Tarantino
