Alejandro Gonzalez, director of Birdman, brings us this new thriller set in the past. The plot is pretty simple: Tom Hardy's character kills Leonardo Dicaprio's character's son and he seeks revenge. "The Revenant" is a really great film that is a must see in theaters. Director Alejandro Gonzalez made this film look beautiful! The cinematography was absolutely stunning and could be the best I've ever seen.

However, what drove the film was the acting. Starting with the obvious, it's Leonardo DiCaprio. This man was outstanding. He conveyed all types of emotion that I didn't know was possible. Also, he really seemed committed to the role. It wasn't a Adam Sandler role, I'll put it like that. It took real commitment and balls to shoot in weather like the Arctic. As for the supporting characters, Tom Hardy and Domhnall Gleeson did outstanding jobs as well. As for the Overall story: it was good. Nothing special. I got lost at parts when the Indians were involved. At times I didn't understand they're motivations and reason for being involved in the story, but it wasn't horrible.

Overall, I really enjoyed the Revenant. It had some slow moments that dragged on for too long, and the film could have cut 20 minutes. The Cinematography and acting was just outstanding though. This is a film that is a must see in theaters.
