I've been obsessed with Batman since I was a toddler. I'm not sure why I took to him so strongly but he was role model on how to be strong.

WARNING: THE FLASH SEASON 1 AND 2 SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

Just to recap: In Season 1 of the CW’s The Flash, we learn the Big Bad is Eobard Thawne, a distant descendant of Eddie Thawne. Eobard Thawne went by the moniker, Reverse Flash. Now in the comics he is known by another name as well which is Professor Zoom which I’m sure is where Season Two’s Big Bad, Zoom, gets his name.

Also a little background on The Black Flash: in the comics The Black Flash is seen kind of like the Speed Force’s grim reaper. He appears usually right before a speedster dies, i.e. when Barry Allen and Johnny Quick die and through the many near-death experiences of Max Mercury. It is unclear in the comics whether The Black Flash is human, spirit, or something else entirely. Zoom’s suit shares a very similar design to The Black Flash.

On to the theory:

My theory all stems from a running theme I see with many superheroes in comics, movies, and TV – parent related trauma. Barry’s mother is killed by Reverse Flash and his father is wrongly imprisoned for it, leaving a young Barry to be raised by Joe West. In Season One Barry suffered another P.R.T. by finding out his trusted mentor and one of his father figures, Harrison Wells aka Eobard Thawne, was the man who killed his mother. So Barry is out two father figures and only has Joe left to rely on.

When Season Two rolls around Barry gets his father, Henry Allen, out of jail thanks to Eobard Thawne’s taped confession to killing his mother. But we soon find this sweet reunion is slightly bitter due to his father’s random need to leave the city. Once again Barry is pretty much left with just Joe, which is fine because he’s amazing anyways. (Since Joe is so great I don’t think the writers are going to taint that relationship just yet [he’s no Quinten Lance after all] which just really leaves one person left to be really smashed for Barry.)

Is Earth Two's Henry Allen……Zoom?

This idea came to me after seeing Zoom’s body type and the way he moved. He reminded me of an older fellow but one still in pretty decent shape. Another little clue that gives this away was the Easter Egg of Earth Two’s Green Arrow being Robert Queen, Oliver’s father. What also solidifies my theory is the casting of Tony Todd as the voice of Zoom. At first when I heard the Candyman was cast I thought maybe Zoom would be a character we haven’t met yet…until I read this quote from executive producer Andrew Kreisberg's interview with Variety.com regarding the casting choice:

“Part of the mystery of the season is who or what is underneath the Zoom outfit, and so we wanted to do something like James Earl Jones as Darth Vader — this iconic voice coming out of this mask. Last year, we thought of the Reverse-Flash as a speed warrior; this year, Zoom is like a speed demon, and no one does demon-voice better than Tony Todd.”

That quote alone sold me on my theory and I think it makes a lot of sense considering the running theme of stomping on Barry’s father figures. Also whenever the camera zooms (haha!) in on Zoom’s face, his eyes are a lighter brown color and the exact same shade as Henry Allen’s. The color is too light to be Joe West and they’re definitely too light for it to be Tony Todd acting in the suit. Since Eddie, Jay, and Harrison's eyes are all blue, this safety rules them out. If Zoom is indeed Henry Allen from Earth 2 then that would shake Barry to the core because not only has his Earth One father basically abandoned him but now his Earth Two father is trying to murder him. It would also have the highest feels impact to the audience and The Flash writers have proven time and time again that they can punch us square in the feels box.

What do you guys think? Do you agree with my theory or do you think Zoom could be someone else?
