Next summer, Star Wars: Episode VIII hits theaters, which is something many fans are excited for. Though we don't know too much about this anticipated sequel, we do have part of the cast list released.
One new actor that is confirmed to appear in this film is Benicio Del Toro. Unfortunately, we do not know the name of the character he will be playing. We do, however, know that he will be playing the villain of the film.
With Kylo Ren, General Hux, Captain Phasma and Supreme Leader Snoke all returning for Episode 8, it appears as though the villain roster may be full. It seems as though they don't really have room for yet another villain. But what if, instead of adding to the roster, Del Toro will actually be playing one of the already referenced villains?
One of the most mysterious characters in The Force Awakens was Supreme Leader Snoke, the powerful leader of the First Order. Although he appeared throughout the film, we only ever saw the character in hologram form.
For all we know, this may not actually be Snoke's true form, but rather an apparition he created to resemble a stronger version himself. This would explain both the mystery surrounding the character and his impressively massive size. So I'm sure you may be catching where I'm going with this....
What if Snoke is just like the Wizard from The Wizard of Oz? The hologram is simply a fake apparition, and the real Snoke is a normal person. Of course, this person will probably still be a force wielder, as he somehow knows the Force just as well as the Emperor did.
Also, Snoke's resemblance to Vader in this form actually makes sense. Perhaps Snoke used the resemblance to deceive Kylo Ren when he convinced him to turn to the Dark Side.
This would actually be possible, and an easy option for the filmmakers, as Snoke is presumably a very difficult character to animate through CGI. Instead of using an abundance of CGI, they may simply make the Snoke we witnessed a fake apparition, and cast Benicio Del Toro as the real Supreme Leader.
This is not an unheard of concept, as seen in The Wizard of Oz, and is actually a strong possibility for the 8th Star Wars film. Knowing the plot twists the series likes to take, it's actually quite possible we will see Snoke having a separate alter ego, or at least a different appearance.
