While speaking to USA Today, David Ayers, Writer/Director of Suicide Squad - had some interesting things to say about Leto's portrayal of the Joker....

“It’s a scary character to tackle. This iteration of him, people will realize there really is a continuity of history — there is a lot of respect for what the Joker represents, who he is as a character. He is the best known villain in fiction so there’s an incredible responsibility there to also be faithful to what he is but at the same time push him into this next world, next time, next phase.”

The new Suicide Squad trailer released last night at 9:30 on the CW. Ayer's has everyone clamoring for more information on the Clown Prince of Crime. Everyone remembers Heath Ledger's iconic performance - and if on-set talks are true, Jared Leto went to similar lengths as the late Oscar-winner. David Ayer had further comments on having the Joker appear in Suicide Squad....

“The hairs stand up on the back of your neck. If you’re a Batman fan, you have to love/hate the Joker because he’s the best nemesis ever. Just to have him on one of my film sets, it was a very memorable thing for me.”

That is not all, Zack Snyder, director of the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - had comments on if Leto will deliver an authentic clown...

“I was very much looped in on the crazy stuff happening with that. The commitment to the role, you’re going to see that really shine through in a way that you’re not used to seeing actors in movies really go all the way with (in) every little moment and every little breath. You’re going to get taken on a journey with Jared that I don’t know that everyone’s ready for but I think it will be amazing.”

How can one possibly hold their excitement, and just imagine - he's going to be sharing the screen with Margot Robbie's 'Harley Quinn'! A lot of people were upset when the first images were released in the spring! Leto looks absolutely terrifying, and I love how the tattoos give him a more contemporary look. The only question I have about the Joker - how will Leto's voice compare to Ledger's? Heath in 2008, brought the villain to life, the only other comparable bad guy, Hannibal Lecter!

After hearing Snyder's comments, I am truly excited to see Leto v Affleck, in the next Batman movie. Another hope I have, after seeing the recently released Suicide Squad poster - it looks like Mr.J will be the primary bad guy in the movie. Everyone else is huddle in a mass - or was this just a way to show the Joker's isolation? Either way, we'll learn more as the movie approaches August 5th!

What a trailer, The Joker looked delightfully demonic- and Harley Quinn stole the show with 'that's not really what they're saying' line. When the Comic-Con trailer debuted in July, I was already sold! Scott Eastwood, a solider on Rick Flag's team - I don't know why, but he struck as me Dick Grayson!

It would make total sense, for Batman to plant Nightwing, to watch after one of the most dangerous villains - Amanda Waller. All Rick Flag explained, that they're mission was dangerous, and they'll probably die. Still no hints, of what is the big bad to come! The Enchantress and Rick, they look like a couple - and once again, I think Harley and The Joker will make this the most memorable movie of 2016. (And that is saying a lot, but easily, one of the best trailers ever!)

Suicide Squad hit theaters August 5th!
