Snape might have made Harry Potter fans and on-screen Hogwarts alumni quiver in their cloaks for all eight of the magical movies, but Alan Rickman himself was a much less severe presence on set than his irritable iconic character.
Although he was famed for playing intimidating, cold characters, tributes to Alan Rickman from those who know him best have highlighted his enormous sense of loyalty and cracking sense of humor.
It's this sense of fun that is captured in this adorable behind the scenes footage of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban that has been doing the rounds since Rickman's death earlier this week. And it wasn't just Daniel Radcliffe who remembers Rickman's softer side on set, Rupert Grint also recalls how cool Alan was on set when he was caught drawing unflattering caricatures of the acclaimed actor:
