JD Salinger is undoubtedly one of the best authors of all time, with the Catcher in the Rye being his magnum opus. His biopic was in the rounds when it was confirmed that Danny Strong will direct the movie from his screenplay and Nicholas Hoult will portray the author. Now Kevin Spacey (American Beauty, House of Cards) is set to join Nicholas Hoult in this biopic playing Whit Burnett, a Columbia professor and a newspaper editor. Burnett is the mentor of young Salinger when the latter started working on Catcher in the Rye, evolving him into a full-fledged storyteller. With 'Elvis & Nixon' set to come out this year, Spacey has another period piece in his arsenal, joining the legion of actors portraying someone of literary importance (Colin Firth joining soon as Maxwell Perkins in another biopic). Can't wait for the trailer. *Literal Goosebumps*
