Looks like Marvel fans will be updating their calendars at least one more time, as Sony has opted to move Jon Watts' Spider-Man reboot up a few weeks from July 28 to Independence Day weekend: July 7, 2017.

The move comes in conjunction with Disney, their producing partner on the film through Marvel Studios. There's been quite a bit of jigging around recently with release dates, but these are the most up to date changes:

  • Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales - May 26, 2017
  • Spider-Man reboot - July 7, 2017
  • Jumanji reboot - July 28, 2017
  • Star Wars: Episode VIII - December 15, 2017

Having the privilege of a July 7 release will hopefully boost figures for the Spider-Man reboot, but will it contend with some of the largest grossing Independence Day weekend blockbusters?...
