You guys remember Odin, right? Played by the incredible Anthony Hopkins, he was Thor's father (and the All-Father) in the two Marvel Thor movies?
When we last saw Odin, he was supplanted by Loki, who assumed the All-Father's identity. Did he kill his adoptive father? Or, like in the first movie, didn't go through with the deed and only made it seem like he was going to kill him in order to get more power? Now, Loki's in charge of Asgard and sending warriors to Earth to get escaped prisoners and Kree aliens.
Well, according to the latest rumors, Loki sent his dad (or maybe in a power backlash, Odin sent himself) to Midgard--Earth!
Odin’s fate, however, remains a mystery. Since Odin hadn’t entered the Odinsleep it’s unlikely Loki could have outright killed the god, and according to sources close to Geek, Anthony Hopkins is expected to return for Thor: Ragnarok. Geek goes on to report that Odin has wound up on Earth, or rather Midgard, wandering the streets and preaching of the coming apocalypse (complete with a ‘The End is Nigh!’ sign, we hope). Which may sound strange, but Odin as a herald for the end of the world might be apt if Ragnarok is really coming (Screenrant.com).
Sounds like a combination of Kevin Smith's Dogma and Stephen King's The Stand. In Dogma, God liked to take sojourns to Earth as a human and play Skee-Ball. In The Stand, Kareem Abdul-Jabar played a character called "The Monster Shouter" who ran all over New York with a cow bell and a sandwich sign that talks about "The End is Near" and "Plagues."
So, Anthony Hopkins will be on Earth as crazy guy with a Ragnarok sign? Interesting idea...
