Today the Jim Henson Company and Sony's TriStar Division have sealed a deal to reboot the 1986 cult classic Labyrinth.

Lisa Henson ( Jim Henson, director of the original film's daughter ) will produce the film with Guardians of the Galaxy co writer, Nicole Pearlman penning the script.

The original film followed Sarah ( Jennifer Connelley ) trying to solve a labyrinth and rescue her baby brother after her wish for him to be taken away is granted by the Goblin King ( David Bowie )

Labyrinth was a box office bomb, with a 25 million dollar budget and earning less than 13 million dollars at the box office it was deemed a flop. The film flourished in video and DVD rentals though and has become a cult classic for many. Sadly it was only a matter of time a reboot was announced much like Jumanji and Honey I Shrunk the Kids.

It is not known yet when the film is set for release.
