I'm going to include an obligatory spoiler warning, but any avid fans of the X-Men comic books and television programs will already know about Quicksilver's lineage.

Quicksilver is a character who appears prominently throughout the history of the X-Men; if you have an X-Men series it won't be long before Pietro Maximoff speeds into frame. A mutant with a number of abilities centered upon his power of super-human speed, Quicksilver has been an ally to the X-Men, an enemy, and back again.

After making a speedy appearance in X-Men: Days of Future Past, Quicksilver ensured his role as a fan favorite of the cinematic audiences. After this epic performance, many of us are excited to see Even Peters reprise his role in X-Men: Apocalypse.

In an interview with JoBlo, Peters discussed the finest scene in X-Men: Days of Future Past (seen above) and discussed the fact that Michael Fassbender's Magneto will be revealed as being his father.

“I have learned that he's my father at this point and I am trying to … I don’t know what I can say. I'm trying to … Yeah. It's like an adoptive child or any kind of child who has a strange father trying to … He knows who he is now so he is trying to find him. He's been searching for him. It's been 10 years and he hasn't found him and then something happens.”

This shouldn't come as a surprise to fans of Marvel Comics, as it's generally considered common knowledge that Magneto and Quicksilver are father and son with a pretty rough relationship. However, we haven't heard much about the relationship between Even Peters and Michael Fassbender's characters... well, besides a subtle wink to the audience in Days of Future Past.

Pietro Maximoff: "They told me you control metal."

Erik Lehnsherr: "They?"

Pietro Maximoff: "You know, my mom once knew a guy who could do that."

It'll be interesting to see this issue explored in an X-Men movie. Personally, I'm quite excited to see the relationship between Peters and Fassbender's characters develop.

X-Men: Apocalypse is due to premiere May 27, 2016. Check out the trailer below!
