Netflix‘s upcoming A Series of Unfortunate Events have found two out of three of their new Beaudelaire orphans.
Malina Weissman, who plays young Kara Zor-El in Supergirl, will play Violet Beaudelaire, the eldest and an inventor. Weissman also starred in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and will next be seen in Thirsty and Nine Lives.
Klaus Baudelaire, the middle child, loves books and is an extraordinary reader and will be played by Louis Hynes in his first acting role on screen.
The series is based on the 13 book series by Daniel Handler about three orphans, who are sent to live with a distant relative after their parents are killed in a fire at the family mansion. This relative, Count Olaf, only takes them in to get his hands on the Baudelaire fortune left for the children.
The Bad Beginning was the first book and was released way back on released September 30, 1999 with the thirteenth and final book released in 2006.
A Series of Unfortunate Events is expected to begin filming this March but no release date has been announced yet.
In 2004, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events was released, which mixed events and characters from the first three books into one story and starred Emily Browning as Violet, Liam Aiken as Klaus, Jim Carrey as Count Olaf, Meryl Streep as Aunt Josephine, Billy Connolly as Uncle Monty and Jude Law as the voice of Lemony Snicket.
