(Warning – Major potential SPOILERS for DC and the CW's The Flash - in both synopsis and speculative forms - are to be found below. Proceed with whatever level of caution that suggests to you is wise...)

Now, after Tuesday night's episode of The Flash brought a whole bunch of plot-lines to a head, it's perhaps not too surprising that next week's episode looks set to spark a bunch of new(ish) ones into life. What is perhaps a little more shocking, however, is that from the looks of the episode's teaser trailer, we might just be set to see something pretty terrible happen to one of our favorite lead actors. Specifically:

It Seems Someone Could Be About to Die in 'The Flash'

Or, at least, that's what this promo seems to want us to think:

After all, in between the arrival of a new tar-based meta-human...

...and the scheming of Zoom...

...it seems Iris West might just be set to die:

Now, of course, when the death of a main character is seemingly teased in a promo video, it's usually best to take it with a pinch of salt (or fifty) - but whatever else, it sure seems as though the episode is set to put Barry through the emotional ringer.

What's more, from the sounds of this official synopsis, it might just push Wally West a little more towards the straight and narrow (and that sidekick spot) too...

"Barry (Grant Gustin) teams up with Wells (Tom Cavanagh) to figure out a way to close the breaches, but they are distracted by a meta-human nicknamed Tar Pit (guest star Marco Grazzini) who can transform into liquid asphalt. Iris (Candice Patton) is concerned for Wally’s (Keiynan Lonsdale) safety after she finds out about his drag racing hobby. When he refuses to stop she makes a bold move that puts her in danger."

The big question, though?

What do you reckon?
