The Han Solo solo movie might not be released until 2019, but after [Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens](tag:711158) drove many a fan to tears, we're all eagerly awaiting the announcement of who will play the young smuggler. The shortlist was released recently and many fans were underwhelmed by Lucasfilm's choices.

Varying shades of white bread tbh.

This is understandable: Harrison Ford is a cinematic legend, and his rugged charisma truly cannot be replicated. Portraying the iconic character is a huge challenge for any young actor. But we've found someone we think could carry off the role perfectly, and he's not on any of the shortlists...

Meet Jamie Costa

Jamie Costa is an impressionist and actor who has wowed the internet by imitating tons of beloved characters. His vines are excellent, and he recently did a spoof audition tape for Han Solo. Although the video is just a joke, his version of the character is nothing short of impressive.

From the voice to the mannerisms, Jamie Costa has really got what it takes to play Han Solo. I mean, they even look the same!

Costa has directed and acted in several film shorts and student movies, and also graduated top of his class from the Massanutten Military Academy in Virginia. He's definitely got the Han Solo swagger down, and his impressions have helped fill in the gaps of some of Han Solo's life. Like...

Tbh Costa would also be a great candidate for young Chewbacca, if Lucasfilm wanted to cast that too...

The Time Han Solo Confessed His True Feelings

Not gonna lie, I wish we'd seen this in the movies...

Underneath all that bravado, Han's just a big softie!

Jamie Costa has definitely got the acting chops to play Han Solo, as well as the life experience, but there's another reason we think he'd be perfect...

He's Basically Young Harrison Ford

Not only does impressionist Jamie Costa totally look the part, he's very similar to Harrison Ford. Before A New Hope shot his star to fame, Harrison Ford was a relatively unknown actor. His small roles in American Graffiti and Apocalypse Now brought him to George Lucas' attention, and the rest is history.

The Force Awakens followed on in the tradition of casting relatively unknown actors in the leading roles: John Boyega and especially Daisy Ridley are very new to the Hollywood scene. It would be fantastic for the Han Solo movie to continue in the same vein, giving another budding actor the opportunity to shine in one of Hollywood's biggest blockbusters.

It's Gonna Be Awesome

And if Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy's words are anything to go by, the Solo solo feature is going to be pretty damn awesome.

"I think the key here is that we are identifying an event or events in Han Solo’s life that gives you some idea of who he is and why he is the character we have all grown to love."

It's going to be a while before we find out who Lucasfilm have decided to cast as young Han Solo. Until then, let's just remember the good old days when Harrison Ford was Han Solo, and Han Solo shot first.
