It's no secret that Hollywood has this bemoaned tendency to produce an incredible film that is well-received... and then bash it into the ground by creating pointless sequel after pointless sequel.
Why can't they just let it be? Why must they ruin what's already perfect?
Actor Zach Galifianakis from The Hangover seems to agree with me.
“Look, that was a good chunk of my life that I do not regret at all, but I wished we had just done one. I think leave well enough alone sometimes."
While speaking with Marc Maron on the WTF podcast, Galifianakis expressed his distaste for the following sequels, and even joked about possibly making more.
“We’re contracted up to 12. I feel a real appetite out there for more. I mean, in 10 years when all this dries up, I’m sure I’ll be knocking on people’s doors, ‘Hey, I got this idea… look, I’m still weird!’"
So, Hollywood, please get your crap together and stop making unnecessary sequels that actually ruin the entire experience altogether. Take a chance on young, up-and-coming directors who are creating original and unique ideas.
