Has Batman been pushed over the edge in Batman vs Superman? Trailers for the movie have depicted the Bat as having some less than savory tactics. Torture appearing to be part of his crime fighting tactics as we see a man chained with a what appears to be a batarang branded into his chest.
However, has Batman seen so much and been pushed so far that he has abandoned his stance on killing? Based on producer Charles Roven's interview with Empire, that may be the case...
“[Batman] is not giving people a chance,” explains producer Charles Roven. “He is more than a vigilante. He has become not only the cop, if you will, he has also become the jury and executioner.”
If the "executioner" comment is to be taken literally this wouldn't be too far of a stretch as Superman has already killed in Man of Steel, as we saw towards the end of the movie.
Even in Christopher Nolan's, Batman Begins, it can be argued that Christian Bale's Batman killed Ra's al Ghul by not saving him when he could...
So it's definitely not something that would be implausible, though I believe the hardcore Batman fan base may be up in arms about it as the graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns for which the movie gets a lot of inspiration from depicts a very violent Batman, but not a killer.
I guess we will find out on March 25 when Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice hit theaters!
