The Sundance Film Festival took place from 21st-31st January in Utah, and featured a variety of documentaries, feature films, short films and midnight screenings. The Midnight screenings were mostly for horror films; and amongst the selection was Kevin Smith's recent crazy film Yoga Hosers.
It showed on the 24th, 25th, 27th and 29th January during the Festival and was accompanied with a Q&A. One of these screenings was held by Samsung with the cast and director. During this particular Q&A, Kevin Smith was asked about the final part in The True North Trilogy, Moosejaws and what to expect from it:
So the whole thing is beat-for-beat Jaws, up until the third act. In the third act it becomes Godzilla, Destroy All Monsters, Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan, and ends with Return of the Jedi. It’s pretty magical
Smith was also asked whether the unique and creepy human/walrus from Tusk will make an appearance and...well....here's Kevin Smith's response:
Justin [Long] returns as Tusk, and he fights Moose Jaws.
Is it crazy? Yes!
Is it ridiculous? You bet!
Does that make it a bad thing? Heck No!
Tusk very quickly became one of my favourite films; it was weird and unsettling, but it was also different, with beautiful cinematography. Moosejaws is also a film that I am really looking forward to; if the film has a similar tone to 2006's Black Sheep, then I think it'll be great. But now hearing that these two creatures are going to clash is just awesome!
