Bigger is better. Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition is massive. Prepare to encounter new characters, enemies and quests in a new world so terrifying you will wish you never stepped out of Harran!
Dying Light developer Techland have released two new, gorgeously brutal and equally terrifying gameplay videos for their upcoming DLC, The Following. The new videos showcase the game's newest explorable area, known simply as The Countryside. This colossal expansion is packing a whole host of new environments, locations and secrets for players to explore.
This is not your average DLC
Dying Light: The Following contains considerably more content than the original base game (which was not small by any stretch of the imagination). Among many other things listed above, the DLC will feature a higher number and greater variant of enemy. The DLC will feature more weapons, again with greater variance - all hidden inside a world that, according to Techland, is "more than twice the size as the original game".
Not enough you say? Well, Techland will also be including a ridiculously traumatic 'Nightmare' difficulty mode for those of you out there that watch way too much The Walking Dead. The team have also announced that they have integrated a new three-tiered system of bounties to help add even more depth to the game outside of the main narrative.
The new expansion adds way more to the game than just more zombies for the player to dismember and evade. Techland have promised to include more detail into the reasons behind this new world order, a glimpse into why the world is now awash with infected flesh-gobbling zombies.
We’ve added lots of little details that tell various apocalyptic stories if you look closely, and placed rewarding secrets for the most inquisitive’ - revealed producer Tymon Smektała.
This is by far, my all-time favorite zombie horror. The free running aspect was revolutionary for the horror genre - for me, it rocketed the game concept right out of the mundane and into a whole new era of horror brilliance.
The open world, non-linear style of gameplay meant that I was never truly safe from harm - I was never allowed to rest - it is an exhilarating experience. Bring on the fear, bring on the next chapter.
