After the passing of his grandmother, a young, successful lawyer must drive his ex military grandfather cross country. What he doesn't know is that his grandfather is a perverted, hardcore ex special forces operative with a foul mouth and one hell of a sex drive.

Zac Efron (Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising) and Robert De Niro (Joy) star as grandson and grandfather in this raunchy, foul mouthed comedy that certainly had the potential to be very funny, but misses on almost every single joke, heartfelt moment and shocking scene. It's only January, but I guarantee Dirty Grandpa will be on my 'Worst Movies Of 2016' list come this time next year.

Zac Efron has proven himself to have some brilliant comedic timing and genuine acting chops, and he certainly seems to be trying here, but the material which he's working from is pretty terrible. Robert De Niro is arguably one of the greatest actors of all time but now and again he will do some rather questionable films and Dirty Grandpa is again one of those cases where he simply seems to just be collecting a pay check and phoning in a performance. Aubrey Plaza (Parks & Recreation) plays a young college girl with her eyes set on bedding De Niro's character and quickly the entire dynamic between their two characters was predictable and ultimately very boring.

Dirty Grandpa is lacking any real wit. There are a couple of laughs, but in a movie that comes in at over 100 Minutes, I was looking for a more consistent amount of jokes that hit. The filmmakers seemed to have approached the project with the intention of making Robert De Niro, a highly regarded acting legend, do as many and say as many inappropriate things as possible and whilst there is an initial shock to how over the top his character is, after a while the jokes becomes tiresome.

The plot here is simple yet it manages to at times make little sense, the jokes come thick and fast but 90% of them don't land and the entire movies shtick became bored within the first act. Dirty Grandpa is a terrible comedy and one I can't recommend.
