Last week we got the news we'd been waiting for, yep, the second round of [Star Wars: Battlefront](tag:2684021) DLC landed and it was even more glorious than the Battle of Jakku. Not only did we get new content with that long speculated Tatooine Survival Map and the new Hoth-themed outfits for Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, EA also added the dynamics for Private Matches, Daily Challenges and Community Events.
But not only did we get all this released for free, we also got our first news on the new content coming our way from EA as they roll out more expansions over the new few months, both free and paid.
The Free DLC
So coming our way in February we'll be getting some new Hoth content to go along with Luke and Han's snazzy new outfits. Does this mean we're gonna end up having to shove Luke inside of a Tauntaun? Let's hope not.
The new content will include a Survival mission and a brand-new multiplayer map, both set on Hoth. The multiplayer map will support the Walker Assault, Supremacy, Fighter Squadron and Turning Point modes.
In March we're being gifted with another multiplayer map for Endor, which will support the Walker Assault, Supremacy, and Turning Point modes. We'll also be getting another Tatooine Survival map to flesh out the January update, so it looks like Tatooine is gonna be getting some more attention as the year rolls on.
The Season Pass
The Season Pass is looking pretty sweet right now as EA announces the paid content they'll be rolling out over the coming months.
Whilst each expansion will be available to purchase separately, if you're planning on playing them all it's well worth getting that Pass to get more bang for your buck.
All we have right now is the names and release dates of the each of the new DLCs, but it's sounding pretty good so far:
In March we'll be getting Outer Rim. Outer Rim will allow players to battle through the factories on the barren volcanic planet of Sullust as seen in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV series. It'll also open up the palace of Jabba the Hutt upon Tatooine for battle. Watch out for that Carbonite though.
This summer Bespin will be added as an "action-packed experience" set within the iconic Cloud City. Hold onto your lightsabers! (And your hands, for that matter).
In the fall we can finally take on perhaps the most enduring icon of all the Star Wars universe - the Death Star. EA are keeping pretty quiet about what we can expect to see from the Death Star expansion but it's sure to be something pretty exciting when the legendary weapon weapon appears in Battlefront.
Finally the fourth expansion will land in a year or so, expected "early 2017". Expansion Pack 4 still has an official title to be confirmed and EA says they'll release more details about this over the next few months.
As usual we'll update with information as it becomes available.
