The team land in Leipzig, Germany where Rip traces Savage. Sara convinces Rip that another way to stop Savage would be to take away his resources. Rip locates the bank where Savage keeps his money, so he and Sara go there to steal the funds. Snart and Rory convince Jax to accompany them on a heist after stealing the keys to a ship from Rip. Meanwhile , Ray and Stein work on a way to help Kendra. Ray decides that their best chance of saving her is if he shrinks and removes the fragments before they reach her heart. While trying to remove the fragments Ray panics and aborts the mission. Stein tries to convince him to try again but Ray refuses to. While at the bank Rip and Sara realize that Savage's men are guarding it. After a brief fight they take one of his men captive to gain information on him. Stein is able to convince Ray to try again and he successfully removes all the fragments saving Kendra. After stealing a priceless gem from the Central City Museum Snart decides to try and change his family's future. After speaking to his younger self Snart is confronted by his father whom he gives the Maximillian Emerald to. After sneaking into a party at the the Grey Hill building Rip and Sara learn that Savage is using Carter's blood to give his own men longer lives. Before Savage can kill them the rest of the team arrives after being alerted by Stein. They engage Savage and they reclaim Carter's body. After gaining the upper hand and slitting Savage's throat, Rip inadvertently gives him the information he will eventually use to kill Rip's wife and son. Snart's attempt to change his own family's fate is ultimately for nothing when his father is still arrested. With Kendra back on her feet the team decides to give Carter a proper burial. Rip charts a course for 1986 to intercept Savage again after the team promises to see the mission through.
We finally got to see more tiny Ray and Sara kicking everyone's asses. Savage was surprisingly outclassed this time around but he still put up a fight. Here are some notable scenes.
Legends - There were three different stories going on in this episode with everyone having a different agenda. Only two members focused on stopping Savage while the rest we're stealing precious artifacts and the others saving one of the team members. It was a little strange not to see everyone there in the final fight but at least they were all doing some form of saving. Then we have the whole burial at the end which was nice and peaceful. Lesson learned: Do not leave your team member's dead body for the bad guys to pick up. Especially if their blood can grant immortality to whoever drinks it. Goodbye to Carter for now.
Ray and Stein - The two geniuses of the team finally clashed this episode. Stein was pretty harsh on Ray but at the same time encouraging. After doubting himself in saving Kendra, Ray finally opened up to Stein. He tells them about his fiance Anna Loring who was killed in the attacks in Star City. He panicked because he did not think that he could save Kendra just like he couldn't save his fiancee. Sure Stein lied how about remembering Ray as a student just to give them the motivation, but it worked.
Rip and Sara - It was very cool seeing these to go on their own adventure. In the process Rip was able to convince Sara that there was a way to deal with the blood lust without having to kill. Just be better. A few times she could have killed people but she was able to control herself. She also convinced Rip that he didn't have to go at it alone and saved his ass on more than one occasion.
Snart, Rory and Jax - Initially refusing to help them commit a crime, we knew from Jax's smirk that he's a little mischievious himself. But even after all this they still came through for the team and saved the day. It's nice to know that even though the Snart and Rory are criminals, they still have honor.
Savage and Rip - It turns out they go way back. Rip nearly killed Savage before he became an immortal but could not bring himself to do it. After finally finishing the job Rip made the mistake in telling Savage personal details. Had he forgotten that Kendra is the only one who can kill Savage? The more logical thing to do was to knock the bastard out, bring him to the ship, wait for Kendra to wake up, and boom. Then again we can't do that because story. It's alright though because seeing Rip jack up Savage up was more than satisfying.
Snart Past, Present and Future- Looks like our cold hearted baddie has a warmer side to him. The whole heist actually had a purpose and even though it didn't his dad's fate, it seemed to have changed Snart. The whole exchange between himself and his younger self was fantastic. The only person who really needed to change was his father, but that wasn't what happened. Poor guy, but at least we know that the good in him is there. Just buried down, very deep.
Man of Steel and the Dark Knight- Two of the biggest references that this show has mentioned. At least we know they are around but as for seeing them probably not. It would definitely be cool though.
Maximillian Emerald- Possibly a reference to the Emerald Empress who uses the Emerald Eye which grants its users similar abilities of the Green Lantern power ring.
What's to Come/Theories:
In the preview for next week's episode 'White Nights' we see Rip talking to his mentor who is THE Time Master. He gives him an ultimatum: Either he stop his mission in going after Savage and the council will give him a clean slate or he continue on and let the bad times roll along with his team. Stein looks to be holding the firestorm matrix in his hand, Jax is wounded, Sara looks to be in trouble, Kendra looks pissed, Snart is running after a heist and getting busy with his lady friend. Will Rip turn his back on his team or will stay and finish what he started? Carter will obviously be reincarnated but the question is when and how? Also, Star City 2046 is only two episodes away so we are that much closer to seeing The Dark Knight Returns version of Green Arrow or at least some variation of that.Who else is excited?!
Legends of Tomorrow's 'Blood Ties' kept us glued to the screen with its interesting plot and gratifying action. The show continues to impress with its third episode and we cannot wait to see what's to come. There's definitely a lot to look forward to. We rate this one a Vandal Savage can shoot energy from a dagger out of amazing. What did you think about this episode? Leave it in the comments below we love to read them!
