Bring on the trophies and nominations for the films and actors that made films and TV shine this year. This season of awards had a list of winners lined up but let's all raise our glasses to Idris Elba.

Not only did he win one but two! That's right two trophies at this year's SAG Awards! This makes the actor's first double-win for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries, Luther and Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role for Netflix's Beasts of No Nation. Idris Elba made history by winning two trophies in 2 categories in the same year and night.

This win comes at a great time with all the controversy surrounding the nominations of the Oscars this season. This opens up doors for diversity; just like the Golden Globes, it looks like minorities are getting their spotlight and nothing is holding them back. Idris told E! News earlier that night, a SAG award is better than any other award.

"[The SAG Awards] are good because it's my peers, we all work hard and everyone respects each other. It's nice to get that nod from everyone. When I first got my SAG card, that was the biggest moment of my life. It's better than any award when you get that moment."

After his win he took to social media to celebrate his winnings of the night:

During his appetence for his second award, Elba acknowledged the Oscars nominations and diversity over all within Hollywood. He took the stage with co-star, Abraham Attah from Beasts of No Nation and told the audience, "welcome to diverse TV." But Idris wasn't the only winner of the night, Uzo Aduba won for Orange is the New Black, Queen Latifah for Bessie, and Viola Davis took home her second consecutive award for Outstanding Female Actor in a Drama Series (How to Get Away With Murder). Congratulations to all the winner of the 2016 SAG Awards!
