One of the most exciting aspects of DC's time travelling Legends of Tomorrow is the sheer number of guest characters we'll get to see in action, in addition to the already bursting ensemble.
Guest appearances include Green Arrow, Black Canary, Flash and Jonah Hex. The latter role is portrayed by 46-year-old Johnathon Schaech, who is clearly pumped to be a part of the show.
Using the social media platform of Instagram, Schaech posted a picture of himself in the full Jonah Hex outfit, along with the caption:
Two hours in special effects make up a day! I'm bringing it to #legendsoftomorrow #jonahhex @cw_legendsoftomorrow @cwtheflash @cw_arrow 5 days of filming -- roaming charges included! #DCcomics
"You Simply MUST Include Jonah Hex"
Executive producer Marc Guggenheim spoke of his excitement at including the character, who will first appear in episode 11, in the series. He said:
"Ever since we decided that Legends would involve time travel, we were eager to do a story set in the Old West. But if you’re going to do a story set in the DC Universe version of the Old West, you simply MUST include Jonah Hex in it. We’re thrilled about bringing another well known, beloved DC character to television."
Hex is a bounty hunter and gun slinger who has knowledge of time travel, but resides in the Old West. Much of Schaech's two hours in make-up will be to recreate the characters facial scarring.
A Disappointing Movie
It's perhaps a surprise DC executives weren't scarred for life following the characters unsuccessful foray into cinema in the 2010 self titled film, starring Josh Brolin at the main character.
Despite an impressive cast that also included John Malkovich, Megan Fox, and Michael Fassbender, the film was received poorly by critics and also flopped at the box office, making back just $10.9 million of its $49 million budget.
Let's hope Schaech's version is more well received!
