Though they are sometimes thought of as childish, there are plenty of animated films that appeal to all ages. Shrek is the best of the bunch, simply because of the level of humor – it hits for both children and adults. It also has some of the most interesting trivia facts. How many of these ten do you know?

Though 'All Star' is one of the most iconic songs in the Shrek movies, it was mainly used a a filler song for test audiences until they could find another one. The test audiences ended up loving the song so much that they kept it.

In an effort to slip in adult humor into the family-friendly film, one of the labels on a conveyor belt in the potion factory reads 'Viagra'.

Though she is largely referred to only as Fairy Godmother, her real name is Dama Fortuna, a play on Dame Fortune, which means Lady Luck.

Sylvester and the Magic Pebble is about a donkey that uses a magic pebble to turn himself into a boulder in order to escape a lion. Coincidentally, the man who wrote the story, William Steig, also wrote the original Shrek children's book, so they threw in the reference as a tribute to the author.

Spielberg bought the rights to the film in 1991. He meant to cast Bill Murray as Shrek and Steve Martin as Donkey. However, that version of the film never came to fruition.

Due to DreamWorks's founder Jeffrey Katzenberg's falling out with former Disney CEO Michael Eisner, it is believed that Eisner was the basis for Farquaad. That is why Farquaad's kingdom, Duloc, looks like a theme-park meant to mimic Disneyland.

Dragon was supposed to play a large role as a pegasus in the second Shrek film, but unfortunately they had to cut that part out. That didn't stop director Andrew Adamson from revealing Dragon's transformation at a screening where a young fan asked the question that was on everyone's mind.
