I've been waiting to see this movie since I saw the trailer last year. Unfortunately, I never saw it at Redbox or on Netflix, then it popped up on Showtime this past weekend. Right off the bat, let me say that I enjoyed this film better than The Forest, which is slightly similar.
Nightlight takes place in a forest with a dark past. Teens contemplating suicide enter the forest and don't leave alive. Four teens enter the forest at night to play a game they call Nightlight. They have done this before, but this time they bring a shy girl trying to fit in with their group. At first, their games are harmless, but suddenly take a terrifying turn. They are stalked, hear voices, and led in circles. Will they make it out alive?
Although it's not technically a found footage film, the film is done in a similar fashion, seen through the female lead's flashlight. The film had decent scares, a good creep factor, and a slight twist in the plot. The main complaint is there is not very much character development, so you don't really care if these kids live or die. I spent more of my time looking in the background for things lurking in the dark. I really enjoyed the film and would recommend it. If you watch it let me know what you thought about it.
