So it's about the time that myself and tonnes of Batman fans around the world wait in anticipation to see another of his many movie appearances. A lot of us are already wondering what the new Batman might be like but it seems like it might not be anything like what we expected!?
The DC Extended Universe is already looking dark and gritty, but that might just be the beginning. Zack Snyder's 'Dark Knight' will be a much bigger and badder Batman than the one featured in Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. From what we know so far Ben Affleck's run at the Dark Detective is going to be the darkest one yet!
During a recent interview with Empire magazine, the film's main producer, Charles Roven, suggested that Batman might actually be ready to break one of his oldest and most sacred rules.
“[Batman] is not giving people a chance… He is more than a vigilante. He has become not only the cop, if you will, he has also become the jury and executioner.”
That's right. Batman might actually kill someone. I guess no more Mr. Nice Bat.
Fans of the Caped Crusader know that there is a very good reason why he prefers gadgets to full blown weaponry. He doesn't want to become just like the villains he strives to 'put away'. This adopted 'no killing' policy has been prevalent in the last several of his appearances in cinema.
Well whoever ends up becoming Batman's first victim in over a decade we are all sure about one thing, Alfred wont be happy. Jeremy Irons takes over the role of Bruce's ever loyal and great friend Alfred and has already talked about his role and the relationship between him and the new Batman;
“I knew we would be finding a different angle on Alfred, so I thought of him as my own. Alfred has lived longer than Bruce, and so perhaps has a clearer perspective on life. As well as having been in loco parentis to Bruce, his only remit in life is to protect him. And, as those of us who have raised children, let alone Batmen, will know that is quite a wide remit.”
Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice is slated to hit theaters March 25, 2016, what are your thoughts on Batman scrapping his rule? Bonkers or just what the DCU needs to create an every darkening environment?
