Aunt Viv number one, Janet Hubert, isn't going to let her bad feelings toward Will Smith slide anytime soon and now she has taken her thoughts on their time together on Fresh Prince to The Real.
After criticizing Will Smith's Oscar boycott and claiming that Jada Pinkett Smith was simply angry because her husband wasn't nominated and disguising it as a political stance, the bad blood between Hubert and her former co-star has been dragged into the spotlight again and it seems like Janet still has a lot to say.
Smith's former on-screen Aunt explained the deep-rooted tension that runs between her and the 47-year-old Hollywood superstar which stretches all the way back to the early '90s when she claims Will got her fired from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
In an attempt to clear the air, Hubert referred to herself in the third person to dispel rumors about just what went down on the Fresh Prince set. She explained:
"Janet Hubert was never difficult on that set. Janet Hubert was so professional, it wasn't even funny. I think Will simply needed to win and I think sometimes when you get caught up in a lie and those things never happened. She never left the set. I never left the set. We got along great."
Despite the fact that they supposedly "got along great," Hubert also brought up Smith's immaturity and how his grudge against her has destroyed her life, Hubert told interviewers that:
"I think he was young and he was inexperienced and I think he simply had to win. And sometimes when you get caught up in a lie and I went back to them in 2009 I and said, "Please I need you to clear my name."
When asked by the women of The Real, if she had spoken to Smith directly, Hubert replied:
"I spoke to J.L. when my dad died and when my brother died and I begged them. I said, 'I have a family. I need you to tell the world that this stuff didn't happen.' And I was waiting in my heart thinking somebody would come to me one day and help me, but they didn't."
The 60-year-old actor then went on to explain she only brought the feud into the public eye to "retain her dignity," she told the hosts that:
"Because I've been trained as a young woman, as when I was a young woman, you always have your dignity and you don't just go ugh, you know? But I realize that that redemption was not going to come unless I did it myself."
