I am a Slytherin and I am not ashamed to admit it whatsoever. I proudly rep my silver and green with my head - and wand - held high.

We are ambitious and cunning, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I feel that in general, each house has positive and negative attributes.

The Slytherin house has produced some of the most evil characters in wizarding history (ever heard of a little guy name Lord Voldemort?) but that does not mean that all wizards who come through the Slytherin house will end up being a dark and villainous character.

One particular Slytherin took to Twitter to ask J.K. Rowling for some advice about how to deal with being made fun of.

In an almost Slytherin-like fashion, Rowling gave this answer:

Well damn, Rowling! Hit them where it hurts!

Below is a list of really badass Slytherins that prove we aren't all bad at all.

Severus Snape

Do I really need to explain this one? While Snape might not have been very nice to Harry - can we blame him? - he did all he can to protect him for he still loved Lily, Harry's mother, long after she was sadly killed by Voldemort.

He risked his life and played a double agent to do anything he can to bring down Voldemort while helping Harry. That is the ultimate sacrifice. He is hands down one of my most favorite characters in the Harry Potter series.

Also, RIP to Alan Rickman. We hold our wands up high to you, sir.

Regulus Black

Regulus was the younger brother to Sirius black, and he couldn't be more the opposite. Even though Regulus did become a Death Eater in his youth, he very early on realized the blunder of his ways.

Once he discovered to what lengths Lord Voldemort would do in order to reach his goals, including killing his beloved family's house elf Kreacher, Regulus found out about one of Voldemort's horcruxes, and decided to destroy it.

While he wasn't successful in destroying the locket, he was courageous for trying to thwart Voldemort's plans and even died in doing so.

Merlin is an incredibly famous wizard who lived during the medieval era. It is possible that he might have been taught by Salazar Slytherin himself.

Merlin was a firm believer that wizards should help Muggles and live peacefully alongside them. He even founded the Order of Merlin, an organization which promoted Muggle rights, and also created rules against using magic on them.

Andromeda Tonks

Andromeda Tonks is Nymphadora Tonks' mother. She married a Muggle Ted and was even disowned by her family for doing so.

Ted and Andromeda offered their home to be a safe house for the Order of the Phoenix, even though neither were members. They raised their daughter Tonks to become a very open-minded witch, who even married a werewolf (Remus Lupin).

Andromeda helped raise her grandson Teddy after her daughter Nymphadora and Lupin were murdered while battling Voldemort and his Death Eaters.

Horace Slughorn

It might have taken a bit of work on Harry's end, but Slughorn finally gave Harry a memory that ended up helping Harry in defeating Lord Voldemort, as Tom Riddle was once his student in his former days.

He also stepped out during the Battle of Hogwarts and helped defeat the dark lord using all of his magic might.

And if anybody needs any proof that bad wizards can come from any house, let's not forget about that asshole Gryffindor Peter Pettigrew who turned against his best friend James Potter and was pretty much Voldemort's right hand man.

I rest my case.
