If you got excited about the date that Marty McFly traveled to in Back to the Future 2 actually happening, then this news will either thrill you... or terrify you.
Any fans of the Ghostbusters films will already have a lot to be excited this year, with the reboot starring an all female cast arriving in July.
But now there's another reason! You see, it turns out that in Ghostbusters 2, when Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) was hosting his show 'World of the Psychic,' he had two guests whom he asked to predict the day that the end of the world would occur. While one of them was rather pessimistic in his prediction and guessed that the world would end on New Year's Eve of that year, the other psychic was a bit more hopeful and gave Murray an answer in the video below.
As Venkman himself put it:
"Valentine's day. Bummer."
However let's not despair yet, because as you saw in the video, this woman obtained the information in a rather... unusual fashion.
"I received this information from an alien."
Wait, what? She met an alien? It must have been fascinating! How did this occur?
"It was in the Paramus Holiday Inn."
Hmm, all right. But then he took her to somewhere way cooler, right?
"He forced me to follow him to his room, and that's where he told me about the end of the world."
I see, but fortunately this isn't the only possibility, right?
"It might have been a room on the spacecraft made up to look like a room at the holiday inn."
Oh. Okay, well, to be honest guys, I don't think the world is going to end on Valentine's Day, but there's always the possibility, I guess. Anyway, it isn't the first time that the end of the world according to a film would be proved incorrect.
So, for now we're probably safe, but don't do anything crazy like getting your ouija boards out on Valentine's Day, just to be safe.
