The Culling may be the most violent game to come out this year. The rules are simple. Sixteen players will have twenty minutes to explore, craft weapons, build traps, hunt and kill each other!

Would you survive? Xaviant Studios are on a mission to create the bloodiest, most brutal game to come out this year. The Culling is a savage online multiplayer slayer that you probably will not survive.

It works in a somewhat similar vein to the Hunger Games or Battle Royale. Each player gets dropped into a remote tropical paradise and will have just twenty minutes to kill every other player in the game in order to be crowned champion. There is no second place however, no love stories to be found here – this is all out brutality – kill or be killed.

"I asked a small, talented team to come up with their dream game and gave them the autonomy to build it," Xaviant founder Michael McMain said. "The Culling is the result of that effort. It has been the highlight of my career!"

The Culling is only for the brave, a stand-alone multiplayer that promises to test your survival skills to the limit. Players are free to do what they want once the game has started – so long as everyone, bar one is dead at the end.

Play to your strengths, if you are a brawler, grab a knuckleduster and get slapping, or if you are a stealth player, be sneaky and slit a few throats. Build traps or take people out at range – the game will allow you to do whatever you want – as I say, so long as it's something bloody.

Xaviant are trying to change people's perception of online competitive gaming with The Culling – the intention here is to allow people to be competitive but to make it as fun as possible. Xaviant want their game to be so bloody that there will basically be no need to fight outside of the island. Makes sense, I guess.

The Culling will be releasing on PC, March 8th via early access.
