Today, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 was released on Steam for PC gamers worldwide. We've seen some tremendous reviews out the gate for this highly anticipated fighting game (check out our review roundup here). But it seems that everything isn't all roses for those who've had the chance to play the game on PC. Well, "play".
Let's take you on a tour of the various reviews that have already been written for [Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4](tag:3755113) (though a lot of these are mere comments rather than reviews, as some of these individuals have played less than an hour of the game before posting). Seems this port is giving everyone a lot of trouble in the performance department.
PC Rage: Steam Reviews Paint A Grim Picture Of Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4
Right, note that all of the reviews that we've seen from critics so far have been incredible! I haven't seen this title get under an 8. However, we believe that all of those were based on console versions of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4. Let's see what's happening on Steam:
Yep, reports from various players are that sections of the game actually runs around 5 frames per second. Even during matches players have reported extreme lag, thus rendering the final [Naruto: Shippuden](tag:3637021) title unplayable on the PC. It seems we have another Tales of Symphonia situation on our hands.
The game is also lacking in graphical options for PC players, such as the lack of V-sync options, appalling menus, and even controllers aren't connecting. What gives, Bandai?
At least some of these guys can afford to have a sense of humor about all of this, but I can imagine that the sense of frustration must be immense. You paid good money for what was promised to be a well-optimized PC game and the developers have not delivered. It really is such a shame, because Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is an exceptional game on consoles...
We understand that fixes for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 are coming. Bandai Namco and developer CyberConnect2 are going to have to address this calamity in a big way. They're only hurting themselves by releasing such a great fighting game in such a sorry state on Steam. Fixes are coming, folks. But is it already too late?
