Everyone knows Lando Calrissian as a fellow scoundrel that has a past with Han Solo, so with a movie coming out that explores Han Solo's past, it's completely plausible that Lando is his right-hand man in the movie. While it seems that everyone is ignoring Lando's existence in the new trilogy, I fully believe that this won't be the case for long. I think that Lando will hit the limelight again in this new film, and that there are only a few actors out there that have the caliber to back up Billy Dee Williams' portrayal. So without further ado, let's take a look at ten actors I think could play Lando.
1. Michael B. Jordan
Michael B. Jordan is the all-around perfect choice for Lando, despite being rumored for the role of Boba Fett. He's charmingly handsome, perfect in almost every action role he's ever played (I enjoyed him in Fantastic Four, despite the movie being bad), and he can smooth talk his way out of anything. Not to mention his resemblance to Billy Dee Williams! I could easily believe that Jordan is a young Billy Dee, and that's who he should play in the Star Wars universe.
2. Donald Glover
Donald Glover is mostly known for playing nerdy characters thanks to his popular role of Troy from Community, but he's also done movies like Magic Mike XXL where he's sexy and charming. I feel like he could utilize the aspects of the latter role and use that for the charming and smooth characteristics of Lando Calrissian. Donald is handsome, looks like he could play a young Lando, and would certainly do such a high caliber role justice.
3. Chadwick Boseman
Chadwick Boseman is an older choice, but it hasn't been established how old Han and Lando will be in the spin-off. Besides that, Boseman is extremely suave and smooth-talking, not to mention easy on the eyes. While he doesn't look as much like Billy Dee Williams as the aforementioned choices on this list, I believe that he does have the skill to pull off this role.
4. Mehcad Brooks
Mehcad Brooks isn't as popular as some of the other choices on this list, but he's still a terrific actor, and just as charming as the others. Brooks is such a diverse actor that I'm fully convinced that he could put on Lando's iconic garb and instantly fit into the role. If you've seen him on Supergirl, then you know that Mehcad is insanely charming and flirtatious, and is just waiting for a high profile role like this to show up on his doorstep.
5. Brandon T. Jackson
Just like Jordan, Jackson looks very much like a young Lando Calrissian, and I feel like that would be his top asset playing the character. Besides that, Jackson almost always plays characters that are smooth and moving from woman to woman. While he isn't the most famous actor on this list, I fully believe that he could blow this role out of the galaxy.
6. Jaden Smith
Like I said before, it hasn't been established exactly how old Han Solo will be in the spin-off movie. Remember, Chandler Riggs from The Walking Dead was up for the role for a while. With that being said, I personally can't say that I like Jaden's work at all, but I also can't deny that from an early age he's established his incredible acting skills. He certainly takes after his father, and I feel that if they were to make Han Solo extremely young, Smith is the only choice for a Lando that young.
7. Anthony Mackie
The most prominent thing you can say about Anthony Mackie from the past few years, is that this dude is everywhere. He knows how to pick his jobs well, and he's shown time and time again that he's a phenomenal actor (in my household, I refer to him as the next Samuel L. Jackson in fact). Since he's such a good actor, and has shown that he can handle the toughest of roles, I personally think that the role of a young Lando would be safest in Mackie's hands.
8. Chiwetel Ejiofor
The only thing Ejiofor is known for more than being one of the most sophisticated actors in our modern generation, is being one of the most versatile as well. While he usually plays calm and reserved characters, I feel like he could let it all go and bring out his inner scoundrel for this role. He has literally every aspect of this character down pat already, and while you might have never thought of him to play the character, I know that it would be amazing for both the role and the actor.
9. Damon Wayans Jr.
Even though he mainly does guest roles and doomed-to-be-canceled sitcoms, Wayans Jr. is still a chip off the old block. He's charming and suave, while still holding a lot of comedic value (which could be perfectly utilized for the chemistry between Han and Lando), and I believe that he could easily make the switch into full-blown action (with a comedic vibe of course).
10. Lance Gross
One thing the Star Wars loves doing is taking practical no-names and turning them into A-list actors. Lance Gross could be a perfect example of this. He's not a household name to say the least, yet judging from his look and charm, it's completely believable that he could do this role justice. Disney has taken casting chances before, and so far they've all paid off. Gross could be exactly the same way.
