When did it become acceptable for Hollywood's move trailers to become 3 minutes of spoilers?
If you're unlucky enough, you'll be exposed to 3 plot spoiling trailers, if not 4, prior to the theatrical release? Sure, nobody's forcing you to watch them, but is it wrong to assume you won't be subjected to every plot point, act defining dialogue and a couple of quick flashes of how the movie ends.
Remember a time when a movie trailer teased the lead characters, boasted geographical vanity, impressed us with some VFX sneak peaks and included only enough story to entice questions?
We understand there is pressure on Hollywood to fill cinemas and recoup investment, but surely giving away the entire 3 acts in snap shot form while narrated by dialogue from a critical plot turn (in 2016 it feels only B grade or Indie films still use the "IN A WORLD" deep voiceover) and accompanied by all the snazzy swooshes and metal hit sound effects you can cram into 3 minutes, isn't the only option.
The internet nearly toppled at the site of an entire environment being blown to smithereens by a large thunderous dome of electric force in one of the latest Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice trailers, not to mention countless other spoilers.
While the environment doesn't appear to be either Gotham it does lead to a larger spoiler, SM & BM standing side to side which appears to suggest the two have joined forces.
Followed immediately with proof that Superman and Batman unite forces with the inclusion of an uninvited Wonder Woman. Well that's anti climactical given Zac Snyder launched his #whowillwin marketing hashtag last week. Apparently no one does, but what we can safely assume is we end up with the Dawn Of Justice.
While we can't take studios intelligence for granted knowing full well that they intentionally manipulate our perception of what's staring back at us in a trailer, what we can do is ask studios to STOP GIVING AWAY SO MUCH in trailers.
When is too much, too much? It's right now. Stop it, let the movie unfold in theatres, not on our Facebook feed.
'Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice' entire premise as a movie asks one question . Who will win? In order to beat Superman, Batman typically must blackmail Superman by threatening the innocent which Batman wouldn't do, leaving the option of defeating Superman with Kryptonite.
Movie goers know that Krypton doesn't exist in current day so Batman could loose the battle in this movie. However the below trailer contains a marathon of plot spoilers including Lex Luthor retrieving Zod's dead body, the result, DNA synthesis, it's use could be untold, but one thing we do know it can be used to defeat Superman.
At 1:17 in the below trailer Lex Luthor says, "Son of Krypton versus Bat of Gotham", clearly this lets us know the Lex has orchestrated animosity between BM & SM and is playing on Bruce Wayne's anger and inner rage to kill Superman.
Which could be cemented as fact when Lois Lane replies, "You're psychotic".
At the end of day, it's only speculation.
Treat yourself below to some more PLOT SPOILERS, *cough*, my apologies, Movie Trailers, bridged together with enough dialogue piecing together every script thread that should only be revealed to you with a coke in one hand and bucket of popcorn in the other. Or don't, you've been warned.
Have a great day.
