We all know that everyone's favorite pocket monster trainer Ash began his epic journey at exactly 10 years, 10 months, and 10 days old as confirmed in the novelization of the show. But over the course of Pokémon's 906 episodes, the 10 year-old hardly appears to have aged a day. I must've missed the episode in which he drinks from the fountain of eternal youth.

Rather troublingly, it's confirmed that Ash has yet to celebrate his 11th birthday in the episode 'Best Wishes,' although 'Best Wishes Until We Meet Again!' seems to imply that at least a year had passed since his time in Johto. It's all very confusing, until you look a little closer at the baseball-cap-aficionado.

Scroll down to witness his subtle evolution over the various series and you'll notice that puberty does, little by little, seem to be taking hold.

Original Series (1997 - 2002)

XY Series (2013 - 2016)

Is it just me or is that a lankier Ash we see here? For one he's grown out of those embarrassingly wide cargo pants, so clearly the growing lad is becoming more fashion conscious. He is also, unless my eyes are deceiving me, becoming visibly taller. So what does this mean? Is the perpetual 10-year-old finally aging? Will he ever hit teenagehood? I guess we'll just have to keep watching... very closely.

Does Ash look older to you?
