The Deadpool reviews are in and everyone who has seen it has agreed it is the most violent and funniest comic book movie yet. Some people have stated that it might be the best comic book movie of all time, and both Batman v Superman and Captain America: Civil War will have a hard time topping it.
This is only the first superhero movie of 2016 and we have seven more coming up. Along with superhero films, we have other big blockbusters. 2016 looks like it's going to be an amazing year for movies, but as some films are great, some are just flops.
This is a film that just didn't connect with the audience, or it was a horrible movie. Sometimes we can see flops coming, and these five films are what I think will be the biggest flops of 2016.
*MY DEFINITION OF A FLOP IS A MOVIE THAT IS GENERALLY DISLIKED BY CRITICS AND THE GENERAL AUDIENCE!
***There could end up being bigger flops or these movies could end up being great. This is my personal opinion of everything we have seen from these movies thus far***
1. 'X-Men: Apocalypse'
This movie is very controversial as it could either be really good, pretty decent, or just absolutely horrible. There is little hype around this new X-Men film and the only reason it has some is because of the success of X-Men: Days of Future Past. The thing with the X-Men universe is that everything is getting confusing and they are messing with the timeline.
I should be very excited for this film, but I forget sometimes that it is even being released. Don't even get me started with Apocalypse's appearance... This movie could be as good as Days of Future Past or it could hit rock bottom. At least Deadpool is going to be great!
2. 'Neighbors 2'
It is a rare occurrence when a comedy sequel is actually good or even funny. As Neighbors is a great and hilarious movie, it doesn't look so hot for its sequel. The trailer looks decent but it is most likely going to fall into the trap like most comedy sequels: being the same movie.
The Hangover: Part 2, Grown Ups 2, Dumb and Dumber Too, and many other comedy sequels have the same plot and copy a lot of jokes which worked in the first film but do not end up working again. Putting Selena Gomez in a bikini doesn't make a good film, or does it? Maybe this film will end up being great, you can never tell until you actually see it.
3. 'Star Trek Beyond'
I am not a fan myself and I do not mean to insult Star Trek fans, but as a movie itself, it looks very cheesy. Just look at the image above, the whole movie is being shot on a green screen! You know what this reminds me of? Yeah, Fan4stic. Even the trailer looks like a crappy '90s movie. I don't know much about Star Trek but movies filmed mostly on green screens are set up for disaster.
4. 'Ice Age: Collision Course'
The first Ice Age was a good movie, the second and third were pretty decent. The fourth one, however, was absolute garbage. Ice Age should have ended with three movies, making it a trilogy. It's been 15 years, no one cares about Scrat and his damn acorn anymore! Can someone just take off his helmet, let him suffocate in space, and let him and his damn acorn float around in space for the rest of time?
On a serious note, these Ice Age movies have to stop. It went from a simple premise in the first movie to them going into space! For example, I am currently binging Lost on Netflix right now — amazing show by the way — anyways, my biggest problem with the show is that they destroyed the purpose and went way beyond what it was supposed to be. It goes from being a deserted island to a sophisticated society. Just stop with the Ice Age movies, and you guys have to stop seeing them.
The fourth one made over $800 million and that is the only reason this movie is being made. Star Trek Beyond and Neighbors 2 both have a chance at being good, this film has little to no chance of being any good, funny, or entertaining. So, if you are planning to see this movie, don't forget your eye gaugers!
5. 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows'
For some reason, some people are actually looking forward to, and are excited for, this film. No disrespect for Stephen Amell, but this movie is going to be garbage. Let us not forget the man behind this film: Michael Bay. He makes a lot of big booms and knows how to make a damn good trailer but the actual final product turns out to be trash. How he makes good trailers out of his god awful films is beyond me, and that is why people keep waiting in lines to see them!
They make a boatload of cash and this is why he keeps making more films, whether it is TMNT or Transformers, and they get worse every time. Transformers 4 made over a billion dollars and it was one of the worst films, ever. The fifth film is in production and it will probably be worse than all its predecessors. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will follow the same path as the Transformers films as the first one was decent, the second was bad, and each one gots worse and worse. Get out of here, Michael Bay! The only hope this movie has is Stephen Amell, and not even he can save this movie.
