The Harry Potter charm that cast the biggest spell upon fans has been unveiled and, unsurprisingly, the appeal of plucking a gossamer, magical spirit animal from thin air is pretty much universal.
Bloomsbury Children’s Books polled readers to find out exactly which most-loved spell is, and it turns out that our imaginations long to shout out Expecto Patronum more than any other incantation.
The spell — which channels an animal form that you have the deepest affinity with — is as much an emblem for the power of truly knowing yourself as it is protection against dementors or, in the word's of professor Lupin:
The spell I am going to try and teach you is highly advanced magic, Harry—well beyond Ordinary Wizarding Level. It is called the Patronus Charm. The Patronus is a kind of positive force, a projection of the very things that the Dementor feeds upon—hope, happiness, the desire to survive
Through the Patronus, we learn more about the hidden souls of the characters we know and love in the books, and these "wisps of silvery gas" are also responsible for one of the most visually arresting scenes in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Unsurprisingly, the spell to rank second on the top list was the really useful one that meant you would never have to get off your ass again.
3. Wingardium Leviosa
Easy as hell and great for taunting your younger siblings with unreachable, hovering cake. What's not to like?
The disarming charm, intended for wands but also good for pizza.
Because even wizards drop their keys drunk in the dark.
What's your favorite Harry Potter spell and when would you use it?
