Now, Deadpool may still be a handful of days from hitting the big screen, but that doesn't mean that pretty much everyone involved with the project isn't already looking to the future. After all, if the movie performs well at the box office this coming weekend, a sequel could well be confirmed within weeks - and Deadpool could well be making his way to a whole host of other X-Men-themed movie projects.

For fans of Marvel comic-books, though, there's one potential project that stands above the rest in terms of sheer excitement-inducement: an X-Force movie.

And as it turns out?

Deadpool Himself - Ryan Reynolds - Wants to See an 'X-Force' Movie Just as Much as the Rest of Us

As he put it in a recent interview with Filmstarts:

"There’s so much material to mine in just the X-Men universe … In the future, if we’re doing a bunch more Deadpool movies, we’re really going to explore the X-Men a lot...and maybe X-Force — X-Force is my priority. I really want to get that in."

Which, it seems, suggests that the movie's star is just as determined to bring an X-Force movie to the screen as the rest of comic-book-dom.

The big question that raises, though?

Just What Kind of 'X-Force' Movie Would We See?

The team started its life, after all, as a more militant spin-off of the X-Men's junior squad, The New Mutants in the early 1990's, with their new teacher Cable giving his team a far more aggressive approach than any X-Team up too that point. At that point, Deadpool was simply an antagonist - and hadn't yet evolved into the fourth wall-breaking anti-hero he is today.

In later years, though, the team evolved into a sort of black-ops group, led by Wolverine (one version of which featured Deadpool as a lead) and featuring several classic X-Men characters, including Psylocke and Archangel. More recently still, the team became a gang of outlaws - with a brand new line-up, and a return for Cable - before changing forms yet again.

In other words?

The 'X-Force' Movie Could Be Pretty Much Whatever it Wants to Be

Ryan Reynolds' recent hi-jinks with Olivia 'Psylocke' Munn might just lend support to the theory that she'll be appearing, for instance, but we could just as easily see the movie feature an entirely new set of heroes. Colossus - set to appear in Deadpool, remember, has also appeared in one of the versions of the team, as have a handful of members of the current X-Men movie line-up.

The most likely change from the comic-books, though? If an X-Force movie does indeed happen, we'll almost certainly see both Deadpool and Cable star alongside one another, something that in the comics has largely been limited to their own solo (or team-up) outings.

In the short-term, though? Let's just hope we get the chance to see it...

What do you reckon?
