A whopping 20 years after the release of Independence Day, original cast members Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman are joining forces with new recruits Liam Hemsworth and Jessie Usher to combat a seriously menacing foe. Yep, the aliens are back, and they spent the last two decades preparing themselves for the tumult set to take place in Independence Day: Resurgence.

On Sunday, the film released a new trailer during the Super Bowl that showed how much destruction we can expect from Roland Emmerich's sequel. Check out the latest trailer below for Independence Day: Resurgence:

A New World

In this movie's storyline, the events of the first Independence Day marked the start of an alternate reality.

They're Back

This new world has had access to alien technology since 1996 and has been using it to bolster Earth's existing science.

And They're Bigger Than Ever

While the alien attack on Earth in 1996 was terrifying, it's not even close to what they're bringing now. Luckily, we're more prepared than ever before, and there's a whole group of new recruits ready and willing to fight.

If Independence Day: Resurgence is anything like it's predecessor — and it looks to be, but on an even grander scale — then I think we're all in for an unforgettable adventure.

'Independence Day: Resurgence' will land in theaters on June 24, 2016.

Do you think Independence Day: Resurgence will be as good as the first movie?
