Ken Watanabe was set to return to the Broadway musical The King and I next month, but concern for his health has forced him to push back that reprisal.
Watanabe was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer and has already undergone surgery to help alleviate its spread. The 56-year-old actor is currently recovering from the endoscopic procedure at a hospital in Japan.
Back in 1989, the actor was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. After his Broadway debut as The King of Siam, Watanabe became the first Japanese actor to be nominated for a Tony for Best Performance by a Leading Actor.
We wish him a speedy recovery and hope he will still get to perform in his beloved musical once again.
