Based on pseudo 'found footage' along the lines of Paranormal Activity, Hangman is a creepy thriller about a family who is stalked and surveyed by hidden cameras... within their own home.
The level of intrusion provides an eerie backdrop which is primed for a horror flick, plus, unlike paranormal movies, there's a disturbing thought that this could actually happen.
'Based Upon True Events'
And indeed, in order to ramp up the anxiety and the realism, the below trailer promises us that the film is 'based upon true events.'
The film stars Jeremy Sisto (Six Feet Under, Wrong Turn) and Kate Ashfield (Shaun of the Dead) in the lead roles. Taking the helm of direction is Adam Mason. The full synopsis is below:
Returning from vacation, the Miller family find their home has been broken into. After cleaning up the mess they continue with their lives, shaking off the feeling of being violated. Little do they know the real nightmare has just begun.
With all the tension built in the trailer, let's hope the movie doesn't end on a cliffhanger.
'Hangman' was released in the UK last year and premiered at the SXSW Film Festival. It'll have a limited release in the US from February 19th.
