I wasn't a fan of the original 2013 The Purge, but it's 2014 sequel; The Purge: Anarchy, really surprised me, it was a dark, fun and violent thriller with a great lead by Frank Grillo. Grillo has returned to his role in Election Year, as a Senator's bodyguard. Check out the first trailer:

Other than the name which I feel is a bit lackluster, I really like the trailer for The Purge: Election Year, it looks similar in tone to Anarchy and yet again takes the fight out into the city on this night of pure madness.

A Senator which Frank Grillo's character is in charge of protecting seeks to remove the Purge from the annual calendar, but many in America do not agree with her. I like the premise, it's not just re-doing the same plot from the last two films but instead is furthering the story.

I'm excited for The Purge: Election Year but what about you? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter @JamesPorter97
