It seems as if, second only to pigs, hedgehogs have become quite the trendy pet to own. I have a friend that has one, and you can't help but want to scoop him up into your hand and tickle his adorable little tummy.

Furthering this spiky trend is Hajime Satomi, the president and CEO of Sega's parent company Sega Sammy Holdings, who confirmed that a Sonic The Hedgehog live action/computer animation film is in the works.

"Sega Sammy Group is currently planning with Sony Pictures to create a live action and animation hybrid Sonic The Hedgehog movie scheduled for release in 2018."

Sega had announced an animated Sonic The Hedgehog back in 2014, and it's yet to be confirmed whether this is the same production that had started at Marza Animation Planet two years ago.

2018 is a bit of a ways away, meaning if you're craving a Sonic fix you can always binge-watch Cartoon Network's Sonic Boom and play the video games tie-ins to tide you over. Did we mention June marks Sonic's 25th anniversary?
