[Deadpool](tag:38663) is just days away from its wide release in theaters, and Fox already has us talking about Deadpool 2 and a future X-Force movie. It took Ryan Reynolds eleven years to get Deadpool made and it looks like it's going to pay off big. With this film behind him, he's now been quoted as saying that making an X-Force movie is his next campaign. With all of this in mind, let's talk about which actors would be perfect to star in this Marvel team-up.
Cable is known as the leader of the X-Force. He's rumored to appear as early as Deadpool 2, so we should be hearing about potential casting fairly soon. He's a brutal, silverfox'd telepath who needs to have a commanding presence in this series. He's also known as Nathan Summers, the son of Cyclops, so maybe he has to look like James Marsden. But probably not.
Lately around the internet, I've seen fans choose actors like Stephen Lang (Avatar) and Liam Neeson, but I've gone a slightly different direction.
Cable can appear as an older man in the comics, but I don't want an actor that's too old to do a lot of the action since he'll likely have the opportunity to appear in several movies. Stephen Lang has his hands tied to James Cameron and the next 3 Avatar sequels, and I doubt Neeson will start a brand new franchise commitment after finishing the Taken trilogy.
Jason Clarke is a recent talent and could be made up to look older. He's got the presence to be in large blockbusters (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Terminator: Genisys). Look how great he looks behind a large machine gun with scars on his face? I think he'd do a great job.
Domino is Cable's lover and a great marksman. Her mutant powers allow her to predict the probability of her being hit or injured and react subconsciously to avoid that happening. The example Wikipedia uses explains that if she saw a bunch of debris falling towards her and she was aware of it, her body would allow her to scramble around every bit safely. It's slightly vague and confusing, I know.
She's a bad-ass mercenary and can also be great in hand-to-hand combat. Who better to play her than newfound bad-ass, Charlize Theron? If you weren't in love with her already, you have now seen her as the incredible Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road. She'd also be great at keeping up with Ryan Reynolds when Deadpool joins the squad. She's also due for a superhero role.
Cannonball comes from a family of mutants in Kentucky. He's an honest hero who can fly at super speeds while being surrounded by an impenetrable force field. Cable actually granted him the honor of being his number 2 in the X-Force, so he has a very prominent role. This has to be played by an established actor who is also due for a superhero role.
Charlie Hunnam was actually one of my picks for Aquaman after I saw him in Pacific Rim and Sons of Anarchy. He's got a lot of charisma and I'd like to see him play another nice guy. He's also got the look of Cannonball.
Who Else is a Member of the X-Force?
The X-Force has had several members over the years. Many of the characters have already appeared in Fox's films, most notably X-Men: Days of Future Past:
Sunspot - Adan Canto (X-Men: Days of Future Past)
Warpath - Booboo Stewart (X-Men: Days of Future Past)
Psylocke - Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse)
Archangel - Ben Hardy (X-Men: Apocalypse)
The most famous member of the X-Force is easily Wolverine. He appeared in the later runs of the series, but we know Hugh Jackman will be stepping out of the claws after his third Wolverine film. We can all hope that he'll reprise his role in cameo fashion, right?
