Actress Amber Heard dated photographer Tasya van Ree until 2011, before romance blossomed with Johnny Depp.
Many have discussed her sexual orientation, so she has a few choice words to explain what she shouldn't even need to explain in the first place.
Her sexual orientation is not defined by her marriage and the fact that she's now stepmom to Depp's two children. Heard spoke to The Independent, as she felt it was time to educate people who might be struggling with such a simple concept.
“The one way we will achieve change in a positive direction towards accepting people for who they are and looking beyond superficial means to judge people instead of falling prey to our prejudices and our tribal instincts towards fear... the only way we’re going to get over that is by being familiarised with it, by being exposed to it.
“I’ve said this before but education is the antidote to prejudice.”
Heard has also revealed that she feels she's had to fight for movie roles since she first came out as bisexual.
She has purposely decided to speak up, as she thinks that celebrities who stay in the closet are giving out the message that it's "wrong" to be gay or bisexual.
“I personally think that if you deny something or if you hide something you’re inadvertently admitting it’s wrong. I hate the idea of a label just as much as anyone else but I’m with who I’m with.
“I’m not a better actress than I was yesterday and my personal life should have no effect on that.”
Work it, Amber! You are an important voice that needs to be heard. Thanks for always educating and teaching us how to be more aware and understanding when it comes to bisexuality.
