Spy Game Review

This was the first movie I saw with Robert Redford as the lead, no I had not seen Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid before, and I got to say, he did an excellent job as an old spy type character. The film is about how a young spy (Brad Pitt) gets captured during espionage in China and how his mentor (Robert Redford) tries to do whatever he can to prevent his execution from happening. The film has a classic 70's political thriller feel to it, which propels the already good film to great.

The movie shows a good dynamic between Redford and Pitt with one being old and experienced and the other young and cocky, a mentor to student relationship. The movie centers around the flashbacks between the two characters and the various operations the two had worked on together. The main focus is primarily on Redford's character who also has to discuss Pitt's character to other CIA agents.

The movie stars Robert Redford as Nathan Muir and Brad Pitt as Tom Bishop. As a film I would recommend buying it on Blu Ray or DVD and with that I give it a score of 8 out of 10.
