Time to put on your detective hat and dust off the magnifying glass, because rumors of the long-awaited return of Sony's marginalized ex-mascot have started to heat up the Web, and it's pretty exciting!

With the chatter picking up speed by way of the increasing number of homages being paid to the spiky marsupial, a lot of people have begun discussing whether the time is ripe for a comeback.

Yes, a few of the homages have been outrageously vague, like Shawn Layden, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with Crash while at PlayStation Experience:

Too legit to quit.
Too legit to quit.

Or a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo in a PS4 launch commercial, which directly references the icon's roots. Keep an eye out at 00:49:

And here's a screenshot of the tease:

Even more legit.
Even more legit.

But most recently, PlayStation's division over in the Middle East tweeted what could be the most telling nugget of info and a surefire indication of the return of the king:

Translated, the post reads, "Most Wanted: Where Are You, Crash?" and shows a full-body pic of our new-look hero. So is a Crash Bandicoot reboot confirmed, or is Sony simply putting the feelers out to see if anyone still gives a damn?
