Your favorite movie villains have been put on the back burner for several years now. Replaced by serial killer dolls, zombies, and ghosts you might not even see in their respected movies.
Getting to the point, I know you wanna see these iconic movie baddies again like I do. Lucky for us then, that it's just a matter of time before they all come back. And the official resurrection of these cinematic villains is just around the corner.
1. Leatherface / Official Comeback Year - 2016
Leatherface is officially sawing his way back to the big screen this year in a prequel to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It may not be the standard Leatherface we're used to seeing, but it'll be cool to see how he got to that point!
2. Jeepers Creepers / Estimated Comeback Year - 2017
This long awaited Jeepers Creepers sequel has finally been green-lit and will begin filming soon. It still baffles me as to why the Creeper has been held back all these years though.
“Jeepers Creepers 3 will show events on the last day of the Creeper’s twenty-three day feeding frenzy, as the skeptical Sergent Tubbs teams up with a task force hellbent on destroying the Creeper for good. The Creeper fights back in gory glory as its enemies grow closer than ever before to learning the secret of its dark origins.”
Hopefully this entry goes back to the scary tone of the original movie!
3. The Predator / Estimated Comeback Year - 2017/2018
Since the Predator was added to the Mortal Kombat roster, the question was raised once again, when will we get another Predator movie?! Well diehard fans will be glad to find out that a script is 100% complete, and filming is sure to follow sometime soon.
4. Alien / Official Comeback Year - 2017
Now named Alien: Covenant, the new movie will finally bring back perhaps the most popular on-screen extra terrestrials ever!
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in Alien with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. - Maxim
5. Jason Voorhees / Official Comeback Year - 2017
After being set back many times, running through a few writers, and losing its director, it seems the next Friday The 13th reboot has finally settled on a release date of Friday, January 13th, 2017. The next movie is also said to take place in the 1980s and explain the mythology behind Jason's immortality. But now that a new writer is penning the script, it's unclear if the next film will still go down that road. All in all though, Jason Voorhees will be back.
6. Michael Myers / Estimated Comeback Year - 2017/2018
Another iconic slasher you've been wanting to return is Michael Myers. And don't worry he will, but the story that was previously announced has been scrapped - Which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on if you liked it or not. That's not where this story ends though, the rights to the Halloween franchise aren't even with Dimension films anymore, and is currently in search of another studio to partner with. The good thing? If it ends up with New Line Cinema or Paramount films, we could possibly get a shared universe between other well known slashers like Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees.
7. Chucky / Estimated Comeback Year - 2017/2018
After the last Chucky movie was well received by fans, the question has always been ''when will we get another movie?!'' Luckily the director of the Child's Play movies has acknowledged the fans cries for more, and announced that Child's Play 7 is definitely on the cards. Which will more than likely be released in 2017 or 2018.
8. Freddy Krueger / Estimated Comeback Year - 2017/2018
Not much is known about the next Freddy adventure, but it is known that the movie will be another reboot. Robert Englund (the original Freddy Krueger) has gone on to say it may have something to do with the Dream Warriors sequel, but that hasn't been confirmed yet. The next actor to don the fedora and glove is also unknown, but Englund has also gone on to say he definitely won't be playing Freddy in the next movie, or any after!
These villains may have been obscure the last few years, but it definitely seems like they aren't finished with Hollywood yet!
