Fairytales are for children they say. If you ask me, fairytales have taught me more on how to be an adult than I realized as a child. I learned how to do be good person from the things they showed me. There are lessons to be learned from new and old princess movies here are just a few of many.
1. WORKING HARD
Tiana was very hard working! She worked two jobs and saved her money to get a down payment for her restaurant. When she tried to take the easy way, we saw that it didn't really work out. When Tiana and Naveen worked hard, they became human again and got the restaurant.
2. FOLLOWING YOUR DREAMS
All of the princesses had big dreams. Each of them from Cinderella to Ariel to Rapunzel accomplished them. It taught me that if I persevere I can reach my goals. Thanks to them, I keep going to accomplish all my dreams in life.
3. BEING AN INDEPENDENT WOMAN
Mulan was the only woman in an entire army! She was the bravest soldier and took charge in a dangerous situation. Tiana accomplished so much on her own with no help. If they can do all that then I can be strong too.
4. NEVER BACK DOWN FROM WHAT I BELIEVE IN
Merida didn't want to get married. She wanted to find love when she was ready. Rapunzel decided to go to see the lanterns and took all the measures to do it. When her mother confronted her, she told her that she was going to go anyway. I learned that I can't back down from things I truly believe in or want.
5. HOW TO TREAT OTHERS WITH KINDNESS
Whether it was a mouse, dwarf, or another human being, we should always treat others with kindness. One day we may need their help and if I treated them badly they aren't likely to help me. Not to mention it's just common courtesy. Who knows you can even make a new friend!
Growing up I didn't realize how much I actually absorbed. Geez until I started watching these movies again with my own children, I didn't even remember how much they taught me. I'm glad I learned from them and that my kids will too!
